Bob Metcalfe is a professor of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Austin and the inventor of Ethernet, the networking technology that became a standard for local area networks. He co-founded 3Com Corporation, which commercialized Ethernet and became a major player in networking hardware. Metcalfe’s contributions have been foundational to modern internet infrastructure. He is also an active investor, mentor, and writer on technology trends and entrepreneurship. His work has earned him numerous awards, including the Turing Award.
