Pierre A. Elias, MD, Medical Director of Artificial Intelligence at NewYork-Presbyterian

Pierre A. Elias, MD is the Medical Director for Artificial Intelligence at NewYork-Presbyterian an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology and the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he practices as a general cardiologist. His research lab develops machine learning technologies for medical imaging to improve the detection and management of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Elias received his medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center through the Clinician-Scientist Pathway. He has been on Business Insider’s2026 Power AI list, STAT News Wunderkind highlighting 20 of the most innovative junior researchers in the country, and has received the Emerging Generation Award from the American Society of Clinical Investigation. He was previously a data scientist at Lumiata, helping develop Google's Knowledge Graph for Health.

Peter M. Fleischut, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation and Growth Officer, NewYork-Presbyterian

Peter M. Fleischut, MD, is executive vice president and chief transformation and growth officer, at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, he oversees the strategic vision and management of enterprise information technology, laboratories, pharmacy, patient access, provider services, transfer center/placement center, innovation, data and analytics, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and cybersecurity.

In his previous role as senior vice president and chief transformation officer, he focused on creating a single electronic medical record across NewYork-Prebsyterian and its affiliated medical schools, Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Peter also led efforts to standardize care across NewYork-Presbyterian’s ten hospitals and hundreds of clinics and physician practices and oversaw all aspects of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs across the enterprise.

Since joining NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell in 2006, Peter served as medical director of operating rooms, deputy quality patient safety officer, founding director of the Center for Perioperative Outcomes, vice chairman, chief medical information officer, chief innovation officer, and chief medical operating officer. 

In 2016, he became vice chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he is an assistant professor of anesthesiology. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College and the Wharton Program for Working Professionals at the University of Pennsylvania. Peter has received numerous awards and honors, including NewYork-Presbyterian’s Physician of the Year, Modern Healthcare Up and Comers, Becker’s Hospital Review 40 under 40, and the American Telehealth Association President’s Award.
